Who We Welcome

Higher Education for Luton and Beyond

Applying to Green Valley Academy is simple. We welcome students from all backgrounds who are passionate about learning and ready to take the next step in their education.

We review every applicant as an individual, looking at your experience and personal qualities as well as your qualifications. Our admissions process is designed to find your potential, not to screen you out.

Returning to Education

Perhaps you left school or college early, or have spent years working or caring for others. The Foundation Year rebuilds your study skills and confidence.

Changing Career

Public health leads to roles in the NHS, local government, charities and community organisations. Employment, caring and volunteering all count as relevant experience.

Studying Close to Home

Study at our Atrium campus in Luton for a degree awarded by the University of Wolverhampton, with weekday support from a team that knows you by name.

How to Apply

Five Steps From Application to Enrolment

Every decision is made against published criteria, and the reasons are recorded.

Apply Online

Complete our short online application. It takes a few minutes and there is no fee.

We Contact You

A member of the Admissions team calls you, usually within one working day, to talk through your application.

Documents Checked

We verify your identity and right to study against original or certified documents before any offer is confirmed.

Assessment Day

We book you onto a Preparation for Foundation Assessment Day at our Luton campus.

Offer and Enrolment

Successful applicants receive an offer, then enrol with us and register with the University of Wolverhampton.

Ready to Apply?

Our application form takes a few minutes to complete. You do not need to upload any documents at this stage, and there is no fee to apply.

Have these details ready

  • Your contact details and an emergency contact
  • Your UK residency status
  • Whether you have received student finance before
  • Your highest qualification, or relevant work and life experience

Need support?

The form asks whether you have a learning need, difficulty or disability, so we can plan your support from day one. Telling us will not affect how we assess your application.

Were you recommended to us?

If a current student or member of staff recommended us, have their name and contact details ready so we can record it.

Your Assessment Day

The PFF Assessment Day is not an exam. It is a supportive day at our Luton campus that helps us see your potential and gives you a real picture of studying with us.

You will meet our team, find out what studying here is really like and ask any questions before you commit.

What happens on the day

  • A conversation about your experience and why you want to study public health.
  • A short written task to see how you communicate your ideas.
  • A numeracy and digital skills check, used to plan your support, not to exclude you.
  • An introduction to studying at GVA, including personal tutors and support services.

What we look for

Our trained assessors record your day against four published competencies:

Motivation and commitment Relevant experience Communication Readiness for the Foundation Year

If you are not ready yet, we will tell you honestly and kindly, advise you on how to prepare, and welcome you to apply again.

Need adjustments? Tell us about any disability, learning difference or support need at any stage. Telling us never disadvantages your application, and we will make reasonable adjustments to every part of the process, including the Assessment Day.

Your Application Status

What Does My Status Mean?

You can see your status as your application moves forward. Here is what each one means and what to do next.

Qualified

You meet the entry requirements. This does not yet confirm a place. If a place is available you will receive an offer, which you then accept before completing enrolment.

Unqualified

Your current qualifications or documents do not yet meet the entry requirements. Check the requirements above, send any missing documents, or talk to us about a future intake.

Withdrawn or Closed

If your application was closed because documents arrived late or an offer deadline was missed, contact Admissions straight away. We will advise whether your place can be kept, or whether to appeal or reapply.

Funding and Your Contract

Making an Informed Choice

We want you to start your course with a clear picture of how it is funded and what you are agreeing to. Our Admissions team will talk this through with you before you accept any offer.

Student finance

Eligible home students may be able to apply to Student Finance England for tuition fee and maintenance support. We can help you with the process, and you can read the official guidance.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees are set by the University of Wolverhampton and reviewed each year. The current fee is shown on the course page and in full in your offer letter.

Your contract

Your contract is with the University of Wolverhampton. Please read its Terms and Conditions for home students before you accept. You have the right to cancel within 14 days of accepting.

Your information is handled under UK GDPR, seen only by authorised staff and kept only as long as our retention schedule allows. We check identity, right to study and qualifications against original or certified documents, and applications supported by false documents are refused. See our policies for details.

Decisions and Appeals

A Fair and Transparent Decision

Every applicant is assessed on merit and potential. If you are unhappy with a decision or with our service, you can appeal or complain free of charge.

You receive an offer

We explain the next steps, direct you to the University's offer letter and Terms and Conditions, and help you prepare for enrolment and induction.

Not this time

You can ask for feedback from your Assessment Day. A decision not to offer a place is never a judgement of your worth, and you are welcome to reapply for a future intake with any new achievements.

You want to challenge it

You can appeal if the process was not followed fairly, or if relevant information could not be provided at the time. We recommend contacting Admissions first.

Stage 1 · Informal

Contact Admissions within 10 working days of the decision. We respond within 5 working days.

Stage 2 · Formal review

Submit a written appeal or complaint within a further 10 working days. A senior member of staff not involved in the decision responds within 15 working days.

Stage 3 · Final review

On grounds of procedural failure at Stage 2, the Principal decides within 10 working days and confirms the outcome in writing.

After Stage 3 you can use the University of Wolverhampton's Admissions Complaints Procedure. You will never be disadvantaged for appealing or complaining in good faith.
